Leaving for amalfi

What time do people recommend for starting your day off heading to Amalfi.

We are leaving from Rome, planning on taking the train to Naples train station and then private care to praiano where our hotel is.

Trying to figure out what train time we should aim for.

I don't know as it matters, really. Just choose the departure time from Rome that suits you best. We're early risers, and would personally wish to get the journey over with earlier rather than later to have more versus less of the day to enjoy at our final destination. That said, night owls might need more ZZZZZ time in the morning.

Editing to add: I haven't done this myself but if you haven't purchased tickets yet, you might explore high-speed rail (Trenitalia or Italo) to Salerno, and then ferry to Praiano. There didn't used to be any ferry services to that village but it looks like Travelmar has 4 or so seasonal runs now from the Concordia port in Salerno...which is walking distance from Salerno Centrale station.

Input your date of travel and see what comes up? We're all different but if at ALL possible, I'd personally opt for ferry over road travel in the AC any day.

Go with the least expensive train ticket either on Italo or Trenitalia that gets you there the fastest.

Naples to Praiano is 1.5-2 hrs by car.

I would pick a train that arrives in Naples within that much time before check-in.

Or if you need to travel earlier due to check out time in Rome, make sure you can at least drop your bags if you arrive before check-in time

You have to work the problem backwards from check-in time.

Month of year? This is very important. rachael, because you named your hotel town, it didn't matter. But it's better not to use Amalfi as an abbreviation for Amalfi Coast. As you know, it is also the name of a town. Have you made plans for departure from Praiano? You can't fly home from Rome the same day you wake up on the Amalfi Coast.

Are you going to buy more expensive Frecciarossa tickets for a ride just over one hour from Rome to Naples? Or lower cost conventional trains, 3 hours"?

I know that the ferries TO the coast end in the afternoon, so I would check the schedule, aim to get to Salerno at least 30 min earlier than the 2nd to last ferry and back build the schedule.....
