To dovetail off of another post... what reputable stores/shops do you recommend for buying leather gloves, coat/jacket, purse, work wheeled briefcase, backpacks, shoes, etc. in Rome & Venice?

Actually I'd recommend Florence. Otherwise, Rome which may be a little more expensive. I've only bought small items and gloves and only in Florence. I went to a highly recommended shop and bought a couple pairs of quite expensive gloves, then I bought several more (including gifts and on 2 separate visits) at the market for less than half the price. Over several years, all have held up very well and I can't discern any difference between them.
