Hello, hubby and I had such a great time with tour guide Lisa on the Best of Italy Tour a couple years back. We bought leather jackets there which were mailed to us in the US. We are now heading to Sicily for another RS tour and will wear them there. Will we have a problem wearing the jackets through customs when leaving Italy? Jacket labels says "Made in Firenze". We fly from Catania to Rome and then back to the US via Frankfurt.
Thanks for any advice. We can't wait for Sicily.
Should not be a problem, many people (tourists, too) wear clothing "made in Italy" in Sicilia that they bought on previous trips.
Thanks for the advice. Shall not worry.
I haven't been questioned by US Customs about foreign made goods returning to the US. In the old days, traveling with expensive foreign made camera equipment, photographers use to register their equipment before traveling abroad. If you are really concerned, use CBP Form 4457:

How do I register equipment, computer, camera, laptops, etc. prior to traveling?
You can register any goods with serial numbers at your local Customs
and Border Protection (CBP) port of entry, or the port from which you
will be departing. You must physically take the equipment to the office and a CBP Officer
will record the description of the item and its serial number on a CBP
Form 4457 Certificate of Registration for Personal Effects Taken
Abroad. form 4455 is used to register commercial goods and can be
found CBP form 4455 .The CBP Officer will then stamp and sign the form and give it to you
to present upon your return. A registration can be used for more than
one trip as long as it is for the same equipment.
Can I register my jewelry with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) prior to my travels abroad?
Only serially numbered items may be registered on the Certificate of
Registration CBP Form 4457.A dated copy of a jewelry appraisal, jewelry insurance policy or
receipt can be used to prove ownership of the jewelry prior to your
travels outside the U.S. Customs and Border Protection may accept a
photo taken of you with the jewelry in your possession prior to your
travels.
Nobody bothers with used personal effects, but also Sicily and Florence are in the same country. It's not that they have customs from one town to the next, like in the middle ages as illustrated in this very famous and hilarious Italian movie clip with Academy Award winner Roberto Benigni (Life is beautiful) and Oscar nominee Massimo Troisi (Il Postino).
