We can't decide whether to visit The Leaning Tower of Pisa on Sunday morning or Monday morning in May. Does anyone have a suggestion for instance it's busier on Sunday because of church or it's busier Monday because a lot of other sites are closed?
Thanks!
I think it depends more on the time of year. Every day in May is going to have a steady stream of tour buses loaded with groups who couldn't care less what day it is. That is, if they even know...
If you are going to go all that way for a fairly non-event (IMHO) I wouldn't be worried about the day I'd worry about the weather. If its raining and you have spent good money to climb the thing you will want good enough weather that the groundling waiting for you will be able to focus the camera without getting the lens wet. If you are just doing the "hold up the building" photo it would be nice to have decent weather for that. Of course the rain may keep some of the other crowds away. It will be way crowded either way. We kinda thought it wasn't as kool as we expected. The whole Field of Miracles stuff was pretty good but for us it took a bigger chunk of the day than we could really afford.
Will you be staying in Pisa for those two days, or making it a daytrip from say florence? If a daytrip from Florence, I would say monday due to many museums and such being closed in Florence.
Gemma, the Monday closing for museums is standard for all of Italy now (even some of last year's guidebooks had incorrect information).
