Le Marches area

We have about 3 1/2 days after our stay in Montepulciano and would like to see some of Le Marches. Was thinking of driving towards Castelluccio (to see the Monti Sibillini area) then to Amandola - San Ginesio - Arcevia - Corinaldo and then either/or Urbino / Urbania then thru the Furlo Gorge area. Has anyone been to these places? Any comments/recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

We liked Urbino very much. The Palazzo Ducale has some wonderful art, and the building itself is a work of art. If you can fit it into your itinerary, I highly recommend a visit to the Frasassi caves. Simply amazing! You go in with a guide, and they do have tours in English regularly. According to my map, Monti Sibillini is close to Ascoli Piceno, another attractive town.

There is a terrific blog by Valerie Schneider, a young woman from New Mexico who is now living in Ascoli Pieno in Le Marches. She and her husband moved there several years ago and now offer tours of the Le Marches region. You can check out her blog and tour service by going to a wonderful website called seeyouinitaly. Go to "Italy links", then "slow travel", then "blogs" and you'll find "2 baci in a pinon tree". She also has great Italian recipes. Have fun!
