Le Domus Romane di Palazzo Valentini - Questions

I've searched this forum for current reviews but only find 2 sketchy reviews in the past 2 years. If you have visited this site please help:

  1. Is this site worth visiting?
  2. Is the virtual reality feature as good as it sounds?
  3. If your vision is impaired and you wear glasses does this interfere with the virtual reality tour?
  4. How long should I plan for a tour if I visit this site?

Thanks

Visited a few weeks ago. This was one of the highlights of our trip and a very worthwhile tour. The virtual reality features are very good. The film about Trajans column which is toward the end of the tour needs to be seen in its entirety-brings it to life. As another poster mentioned its a bit unsettling at first walking on glass floors with ruins below you ut you get used to it. I wear bifocals, pretty blind without glasses and I was fine. The tours are 90 minutes. Book the English tour ahead. We just showed up and got in as there were only 4 others but you could be closed out as they limit the groups size.

We thought it was a valuable experience and it was enjoyable after getting used to walking on the transparent floors. I had no difficulty seeing even though I have a very strong prescription in my high index progressive lenses. The only difficulty to me was that people often bumped into each other as they jostled for an ideal viewing perch. It's a prerecorded program so don't expect interaction with guides. There is an interesting selection of books in their gift shop.
