Actually, we are in Europe for 40 something days and 12 of those will be in Menaggio. I know Menaggio and the surrounding towns do not have laundrymats which is why I was looking to possibly the larger towns. We will have a car. Thank you for your reply for us to consider staying in Varenna.

There is a laundry in Varenna where you can drop off clothes. It did not appear to be self service. The interesting thing about this laundry is the absence of dryers--we walked by a few hours after leaving some laundry and there were our clothes out on a line drying in the breeze.

you can bet that there will be a laundry in Como...I dropped off a small bag in Bellagio (smaller town) and the cost was not too bad about 10 Euros. Just ask your hotel for the nearest "lavanderia automatica"
