Do you have lodging yet in Amalfi? If so, they can tell you the most convenient laundromats.

A Google search turned up at least this one:

Lavanderia Del 2000 Lavanderie
Via G. Capriglione 50

Richard,

There's a good self-service Laundry in Sorrento, but I'd have to check my files for the address and other details.

Cheers!

Thank you verry much. At least I know that we wont have to go to Rome with dirty cloth's. Again thanks.

We used a self serve laundry mat in Sorrento. It is on the main street on the left hand side about a mile or so heading toward the center of Sorrento. They also have internet there to occupy your time. It was very clean and they had a sliding glass door.

If you haven't washed/dried clothes in Italy before, here's a heads up: Bring lots of cash with you because it will be expensive! We usually paid 8 euro to wash and 8 more euro to dry ONE load! In one Lavanderia in Rome, the guy who owned it was there, and had his key ("chiave") in the slot in the machine selector/money taking thing. He asked us which machine we wanted, and indicated to pay him directly; but at that moment, I didn't know who he was, nor why I should pay HIM. So I put a 10 euro bill in the machine, and the machine wouldn't respond. He said, "No, no, no! I take the money. I do it." He didn't credit us back the money I'd put in, either, and I didn't know how to argue the point.

Also be aware that laundromats vary greatly from one to the other. Some require you to buy tokens to use in the machines, others have a central "box" that you put your money in and then tell it which machine you're using. Also, some laundromats have a "spinner" machine that you put the clothes in after the washer but before the dryer. It's either free or very cheap and spins the water out of your clothes making them dry much faster. (Some of their washing machines don't have a real spin cycle.)

All the more reason to do your laundry yourself in the sink. :)
