Laundry in Florence???

Has anyone used the laundry services in Florence that are listed in Rick's book? Who did you use on his list? How was your experience? Where the clothes cleaned? Was it done at a reasonable time? Planning on taking as little as possible , so this could make the difference on how I pack.

I've always just gone to the closest laundromat to do my clothes and used the time to write postcards, catch up on my journal and sip a beer from the nearby market. Very productive "down time".

The thing is; I just want to drop them off, do whatever and pick them up. We have little time and would like to use that time elsewhere. Although we have done that same thing on other trips or rented an apartment with a washer-dryer.

In Florence, we did our own laundry at a laundromat 1 block from the Hotel Basilia. It's in the RS book. 90 minutes and you're in and out with clean dry clothes. You can easily do this in the evening. We did this again in La Spezia. A price for traveling light on a 3-4 week vacation. I am unable to vouch for any cleaning services in Florence.

I am unaware of RS recommendations or any particular place in Florence. On our trip, however, our hotel referred us to the company that did their laundry just down the street. They charged based on weight and were done within 2 hours. It was very convenient. No guarantees your hotel in Florence can help with this, but I imagine a service exists there. Most places are closed on the weekends, FYI.
