Will be heading to Florence early June and will be getting into Rome around 4:00pm. From there, we'll take the train into Florence. Depending on time getting our luggage and through customs, we anticipate getting into Florence around 8:00pm. Is there a need to reserve a taxi before we get there or should we be able to find one when we arrive?
8:00 pm is not late in Italy. There will be a queue of taxis in front of the train station.
Happy travels.
Thanks Michael. After a 17 hour travel day, it will be late for us :) Looking forward to our adventure!
You should not have a problem finding a taxi at that hour. Taxi service us very dependable in Florence. We reserved a taxi twice for 4:00am picK up by calling the day before. Always on time. Google and get the numbers.
There is a line of taxicabs in front of the Florence SMN station 24/7.
Thanks everyone. Now if I can successfully find our way and get our train tickets when we land at FCO, we will have accomplished a lot! I appreciate the help.
It is not a problem. Just follow the signs to the train station. It is a part of the airport off to the side. There will be a steady stream of travelers headed to the train station.
Train tickets are a breeze in Italy!! I never once qued up for a ticket agent. The ticket dispensing machines are multilingual! -Just remember to choose the “British”flag ( for English) and use a visa-endorsed ATM card with a 4 digit pin.!! Have fun!!
You all make it sound so easy. I'm encouraged! On the topic of the ATM card, can you use a credit card in those machines? I do have the Visa ATM with pin, but I also I have a chip credit card but there is no pin attached to it (Chase). How will that work?
