I have been to Italy many times but always May to Oct. My niece is traveling in late November and I am interested in knowing if reservations are needed at the Accademia in Florence, The Vatican Museum in Rome and the Doges Palace in Venice. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you
The Vatican Museum in Rome for sure to circumvent long lines.
We walked right into the Accademia in Florence last Nov. without a reservation. This was a weekday. I did notice that museums started to fill up more on the weekend.
We went in Nov mid last year and had reserved all 3 along with the Uffizi in Florence.
There was a significant line for tickets at the Doge's & the Uffizi which we gladly bypassed.
The Vatican is never a walk directly into type of destination, there is always a line.
The Accademia was not so crowded but we had booked an early morning entry and it was crowded by the time we left.
The Borghese gallery in Rome is the one which has only limited entry and a reservation is always required. Plus it is the best museum as far as presentation of art goes IMHO.
Hope that helps
