Late November advice

The pros on this forum came through for us back in 2015, and I'd love your thoughts/advice for our 2017 trip, especially if you've been in these areas during the same time periods..

  • We've only been to Italy once before 2yrs ago staying in Cortona / Chianti / CT / Milan.

We're planning on November 9 - 26 flying in and out of Rome, and spending the first week based in San Filippo Anagni @ Casale San Pietro (anyone stayed here? Thoughts??). This looks like a decent spot to do day trips into Rome as well as some points north, south, and east.

The second week (Thanksgiving week) is is tough - we're torn between a pretty nice hotel in Sorrento exploring south, and the opportunity to experience all that is agritourismo Cretaiole. Is the weather in late November bad enough to steer clear of the Amalfi Coast? We're not looking to swim in the ocean or anything, but we do like to walk beaches and coastal areas.

  • We love casual sight seeing, people watching, cafe sitting and sipping, dining, wine tasting, and scenery.

We'll round out the trip back in Rome about 2 days before our return flight and spend that walking around the city.

We'll have a car the whole trip until the last two days or so when we're back in Rome before return light..

Thanks for sharing your thoughts - it really was so helpful last trip!

Likely cold (50s during the day, 40s at night) and deciduous trees largely defoliated. Frost and hazy fog possible in the morning in Tuscan countryside. I suggest devoting more time to cities and towns, where there will be things to do indoors, rather than rural settings. Since accurate weather forecast is not possible beyond a week or so, check the weather forecast just before you depart.
