Late night travel between Bologna airport and Central Train Station

Are cabs outside the airport 24/7? There is a five hour middle of the night gap between my flight arrival and train departure. Is it better to wait in airport till an hour before train and find a cab or go on to train station and wait there? Solo female traveler. Thanks

You will not be the only person getting off the plane, and presumably some of them will also need to travel to the city center? Perhaps you could even find someone to share a cab with? And is the flight the absolute last flight of the evening?

The airport identifies two taxi companies - both of them have apps - it should be easy to summon one if needed:

But I can also see that you might prefer to wait at the airport rather than the train station - airport does appear to be open 24 hrs.

Both the airport and the train station are open 24/7. Taxi cabs operate 24/7.

The station waiting lounge is open at night for ticket holders only (this to avoid transients and homeless people to use it to sleep at night at the station). So you will need your train ticket to access it after I think 11pm.

As a general rule I would avoid any train station in large cities at night, even though the lounge is open only to ticket holders. So I would probably wait at the airport and go to the station later on. However I don't remember what kind of waiting room/facilities are available at the Marconi airport after you get your luggage at baggage claim (i.e. past the security).

Thanks all for input. Consensus appears to be don’t wait at train station for hours and that if I’m not getting a hotel, spend bulk of wait at airport. I am assuming I would have to go through customs when my flight gets in and wait in part of airport past customs. I am not checking a bag. I have constraints so different flight not an option.

Where does the flight originate?

Customs, declaration of goods, is a non event. It is immigration, passport processing, that is the time consumer.
