Late night landing at FCO(Rome)

Going to Rome this June and my flight lands at midnight. I know that the trains stop running that late at night. Any suggestions on where to stay near the airport or is it feasible to get a room and transportation into Central Rome that late at night?

Rome, like New York, never sleeps. Taxis operate 24/7 and the flat rate to the city center is 48€ (Do not recall off hand if there might be a couple of euro of night surcharge but I don't think so, in any case it would not be a significant supplement). The taxi ride (less than 30km, or 18miles) is about 25 minutes at that time, since there will be no traffic.

No matter which hotel you choose, however, I recommend you warn them before hand about your very late check in time, to avoid they might think you are a no show and give your room away.

When you reserve a room, be sure a late check-in can be accommodated.

Ya, not all hotels, especially, the small ones have 24 hr check-in. No point in staying at the airport. You want to wake up in Rome and not have to shift to another hotel.

There was a night time surcharge from 45 to 60 a few years ago. Assume it is still in effect and increased since the base when to 48.

Couple of years ago, I flew in late from Helsinki, and was charged €60-don't know if I was "hosed" or not, just wanted to get to my hotel.
