Late for my Salerno - Amalfi ferry schedule

What if I could not catch the ferry that I purchased the ticket online already? Would they still let me board with the next schedule ferry? I'd be likely to use the Travelmar ferry

I'll be visiting on Wednesday 6th of June. Would it be likely the ticket be sold out if i try to buy it on the spot? I will bring 2 large suitcases with me as well in case there're only limited space for the luggages

Buy your ticket when you get there (must be purchased at least 20 minutes before sailing). I can't imagine they'll sell out.

Hi Kathy,

I've checked with Travelmar as well and the lady response not to worry with availability. Well I hope it is. Thanks for letting me know that ticket should be bought 20 minutes beforehand. weww that could add up to my travel time too

Jen, regarding the 20-minute thing, the FAQ page of the website states:

"Tickets can be booked online in advance or bought the departure day directly at the ticket office on the pier 20 minutes before the departure time."

It's a little uncertain if that means that the ticket office is only open until 20 minutes before departure or is not open until 20 minutes before. To be on the safe side, I went with having to purchase at least 20 minutes before sailing. I guess that's a question you could ask them as well if you know you'll be pressed for time?

People with pre-purchased round-trip tickets are required to check in at least 15 minutes before departure, and reserved their tickets least 2 hours in advance (under "Terms").

thank Kathy for bringing it up. Yes, I plan to buy return ticket and lucky you mention that information too. I have contacted them and also ask about the luggage extra fee

Cheers

You're welcome, Jen. LOL, Italian websites can be a little nebulous with their wording sometimes!
Hope it all works out perfectly for you, and have a GREAT trip!

Just one more note regarding those 2 "large" suitcases? My favorite country isn't particularly big, heavy-luggage friendly. Managing those bags by yourself in and out of trains and up and down stairs (LOTS of stairs in Italy) could be a whole lot of no fun! Any chance you could get those two down to just one, and one that can be easily handled if faced with a long flight of stairs or a need to keep one hand free?

the luggage would be one each between me and hubby :) can't get along with his way of packing lolz. also we normally buy things that we'd like to cramp into the suitcases so yes I know it's a hassle in a way but convenient in another way (at least for us). Europe should have transport special for tourists luggages like ones in Japan (Taqbin). It's affordable and the precision time of the luggage arrival is impeccable there.

Travelmar has an app for your phone. I haven't gone through the whole process, but it looks like you can register an account and link it with your credit card/paypal and book directly from your phone.
