We will be traveling to Cinque Terra next July. Does anyone know approx. how late trains will run from Florence (or Rome) to La Spezia? I assume they will be running later and more often in season and the schedules are obviously not published yet. We will be flying from Barcelona. There are flights that arrive in Florence at 3:10 but I'm not sure that isn't too late to catch a train to La Spezia. Thanks
looks like flying to Pisa might be an option.
Jon,
There are trains traveling from Florence to La Spezia late in the evening.
You may also want to check connecting trains from La Spezia to the CT village of your choice.
Check this website to get an idea of the train schedules: http://www.trenitalia.com
I just checked above website for June 7th (July is not available yet) & the last train departing Florence is at 20:28 ( 8:28pm)
You will need to type the stations in Italian:
- Florence = Firenze S. M. Novella
- La Spezia Centrale
- Rome= Roma Centrale
Happy planning!
Pisa is the dominant airport in Tuscany--and #3 in Italy. It's not far from La Spezia via train--1 hr. closer than Florence.
Check and see what Vueling's schedule is flying into Pisa from Barcelona.
Yes, Pisa would be much better as there are frequent shuttle buses from the airport to Pisa Centrale station, where the last connection with the current schedule is 22:50 (10:50 pm) going to Vernazza, which would also stop at the other towns.
Oops, there is no Roma Centrale, the main station is Roma Termini.
