Last three nights, where to stay?

Family with children ages 13 and 8 will spend three weeks in Italy beginning May 26. We have 8 nights in Rome, 2 nights in Venice, then 10 nights at an agriturismo in Aquilea Lucca (just north of Lucca). From there we will be able to explore the surrounding countryside by car. We will return the car and have three more nights before flying out of Pisa. Any suggestions on where to spend our last three nights would be most appreciated. We would like to see a little more of Southern Tuscany, but would need to end up near Pisa for our flight home (1:30 in the afternoon.) Of course, we will be traveling by train for this last portion of our trip. Thank you! Mary

Mary my favorite place in italy is not far from pisa, in the cinque terra, which is one of rick steves famed, favorite places, and this travelers too. Would be great relaxing stop before flying home, with outstanding scenery, food, walking trails... Check it out in ricks italy book.

I agree with Larry, look into the Cinque Terre. It is close to Pisa, but is more fun if you can spend the night there versus daytripping in. Another idea would be over in the Cortona or Assisi area. However, you could probably do those as one big day trip from your agritourismo.

Thank you both for your repliesy! I had thought we would visit the Cinque Terra as a day trip from our agriturismo. I'll consider making it an overnight stop. I know the children would enjoy time there, but my husband would really like to see more of the southern areas of Tuscany that are a little far for a day trip by car - maybe Siena. I just don't want to be too far from Pisa the last night. Worrying about missing a flight is too stressful.
