What tours are good for the Last Supper tour in Milan.
We took their own English tour
It was excellent
You’ll need to book your tickets as soon as they become available-they sell out fast
I believe it's just a 15-minute visit. I'd say a good tour is one that can actually provide that hard-to-get ticket--i.e., one that doesn't cancel the tour not long before the tour date because it doesn't actually have a ticket for you. I think tours including The Last Supper usually have other sightseeing components (to justify the high cost??), so your selection would depend partly on what else is included--as well as on the cost. Don't choose something that's basically a walking tour if you aren't comfortable being on your feet very long.
Same as Christine. We booked the 9:30 English tour and felt that the commentary really helped us enjoy our visit. I got up in the middle of the night west coast time to secure our tix the day they dropped.
Ditto Christine and Susan's experience...I booked the guided tour thru the official website. I think it was 8E more for the tour and I also did the 930A one. The guide was excellent, had whisper sets...talked the whole time we got in thru the turnstiles about what we would see, pointed out stuff while we were in the room with the fresco and then continued to talk and answer questions as we moved outside. It's all very controlled.
I have studied the official website but still cannot tell on what date tickets will become available for Tuesday, May 21, 2023. This will be our only full day in Milan so it is important that I snag them. How did those of you who reserved know exactly when they would become available for your date? Thanks!
@LetsJustGo:
It is indeed hard to tell on exactly what date the next batch of tickets will be released.
I believe that it will be ~3 months ahead of time, but they release a month or two all
at once and so it will depend a bit on your desired date. Just keep checking the
official website starting around 2/15 or so.
More tickets can be released occasionally after a date has initially sold out. And as
noted, there is the option of a tour from a 3rd party company that has its own batch
of tickets.
Feel free to confirm this with the forum. I think blocks of three months drop at once so you’re two blocks out (Feb, Mar, Apr is next). They went on sale sept 19 for the current block that started Nov 1, roughly 6 weeks ahead. So, Approx 6 weeks before May 1, perhaps. Keep an eye on the site as it gets closer to that date. Check a day or two early in case of error. Get registered with an account on the official site. Cenacolovinciano.vivaticket.it Pick “English” on top right. Have your chosen date and time (English tour very little extra cost and we’ll worth it)., and a second choice. I can’t remember how I knew the drop time but it was 3am on the west coast for me). Your time might vary with daylight vs std time. I think the website eventually gives the drop time in Italy as it gets close. Have at least two credits cards ready in case one won’t go thru. Whew! You can tell this was very important to me and I was thrilled to get the tix. Happy to answer anything else. You can post your game plan on the forum. Lots of us have been thru this
I just posted about this yesterday. You might want to use the search function on this forum or review the questions in the country-specific sections to find many many many discussions of common topics.
Here's the link to my recommendation ...
Thanks very much for the helpful hints. I did already make an account on the website so I'll be ready to "pounce". I remember doing the same in the middle of the night to get tickets for the Eiffel tower but that was more straightforward about when exactly bookings opened. We are going to be on a ship for part of February so I just hope it doesn't coincide. Thank you again!
I wrote about this previous, this is just a FYI, we tried everywhere to get tickets early too. Didn't necessity want the walking tour also, we had no luck. The morning we arrived in Milan, on a whim, we went directly to the ticket office and asked of there was any tickets available for that day, she said, "what time?" We nearly fell over. Can't guarantee that will happen again but if you have no luck getting tickets, give it a try.
That’s surprising. We had an extra set of tickets for the next day. I tried to turn them back in to the ticket office, being clear I didn’t want a refund but that they could sell them to a last minute walk up. They refused. Said even they couldn’t resell the tickets. I found that hard to believe.
