Has anybody been successful in buying tickets for May (via viva-ticket)? I see the site was updated/opened for May sales, and now there are "no seats available"? In addition, when I call the phone number, I get a recording......"you have dialed a secure number". What am I missing; or what am I doing wrong? Thanks for any assistance
Getting tickets for the Last Supper is difficult and near impossible was my experience. They disappear as soon as they are posted on the site. My guess is that the vast majority of them are gobbled up by tour operators in Milan that include a visit to the site on their tour and include the "rare" ticket. We used a private guide (Sarah) this past fall in Milan and used her for the whole day, including the tickets she had for the Last Supper. This was the second time we had seen it but her description of the painting (she has her masters in art history and has studied da Vinci) was worth all the money spent on her guide services. Made it a very special day along with the other sites we went to that day. Here is the link to her website: http://www.walkingtourmilan.it/index.html
Brian....there have been several posts on this forum from people who have EVENTUALLY been successful by calling the phone number. They reported getting tickets on dates that indicated sold out on the website. I'm trying to get tickets in June. Prior to the update on the website, I tried several times to call and eventually got through to a person. I had to keep re-dialing because the recording would hang up on me. If I were you, I would re-dial several times and see if you can get through. My plan is to do just that when they open sales for June. Good Luck!
Am I dialing the correct number? I'm dialing 011 39 02 92800360. The line doesn't ring at all; just goes directly to the recording. So frustrating. I guess I might have to go via the more expensive tour.
Cheaper than the city tours, there are brokers who sell tickets for da Vinci's Last Supper. I use Select Italy, costs $16 per ticket, which is worth it to me in terms of time, frustration, and phone charges.
I have bought tickets twice from Vivaticket but because I went online as soon as they were on sale. (within hours of the tickets being posted).
Brian....you have the correct number and yes, it usually goes straight to recorded message. As I mentioned previously, the time I got through I had to keep re-dialing. Be mindful of the time difference for Italy.
Zoe...I checked Select Italy when you mentioned them on a previous post, but they don't have tickets available when I need them (June 24). Do have any other companies you can recommend?
Linda....at this point, I plan to be on the phone and on-line at midnight (California time) when the sales open for June....ugh!
Beth, Select Italy is the only service I use. I checked a couple of sites that give to tours as well, nothing available for June 24.
I checked tickitaly.com. They have 2 walking tours available for June 24 that include The Last Supper. At 9:15 there is a 2 hour tour with 6 spots for 43 euros and at 10:45 there is a 3 hour tour with 22 spots available for 52 euros.
Thanks "va from va".......I'll look into it!
Hi Brian....We just returned from Milan. Prior to leaving, we encountered the same frustration in trying to get tickets either online or by calling the ticket office. We were unsuccessful with both so I opted to purchase a tour that included the Last Supper. I am glad that we ended up booking the tour because we got an unexpected, thorough walking tour of that part of the city. We had a great guide which made the experience all the more enjoyable. It does look like the local tour agencies do a good job scooping up tickets for the Last Supper. When we were waiting outside to go in, virtually everyone we saw in the plaza outside was entering with a tour group. I didn't see anyone who appeared to be entering on their own. I think I paid around 40 Euros which included entry to the Last Supper and a two hour walking tour...in the end I though it was money well spent
I booked a 2 hour walking tour this morning to ensure we get to see "The Last Supper".......so glad this ordeal is now behind me!
Unless you have time to keep checking for tickets, go directly to one of the online providers (i.e. Tickitaly). After several trips to Milan, last October I finally went thru Tickitaly and had no tousle getting a ticket that included a walking tour afte seeing the L'ultima cena (Italian for Last Supper). I skipped the walking tour, and just used the ticket cost to enter to see the Last Supper. It avoids th grief of knowing or not knowing if you can get in.
Beth, I'm glad you got the tickets. Like you, I followed the tickets on the official site daily for a good while, hoping for individual tickets. I finally found Tickititaly online after I didn't try to book another company recommended by Rick until they were filled up for our 2 possible days. The time for our tour in May works out well for us, and I've heard good things about it.
I've been checking vivaticket daily. Every day there are different options open, some days none. Today finally April 27th hit for me so I scored a pair for 16 Euro!
just bought 5 tickets for june 18. even though the website shows no availability
don't waste your time calling the english no
select the italian option; the operator speaks english fluently
