When I Google Last Supper tickets, I get myriad choices of what appears to be private sellers of tickets/tours/guidebooks. Is there a preferred "official" site for reservations, or is this just how it works? THANKS!
I never could figure out if there was an official website! I did find them on www.tickitaly.com. They emailed the vouchers for admission within minutes of processing the order. To this day, I don't know if I overpaid or not, but was just glad that I got what I wanted - it was 45 euros for 2 adults, which was cheaper than the other sites. Maybe someone else can help if there is a cheaper way.
I believe this is considered their official site... http://www.vivaticket.it/evento.php?id_evento=298097&op=cenacoloVinciano I used this site earlier this year to get tickets for our trip last May. Worked fine. Don't know when you plan on being there, but they only open up the tickets for sale a few months in advance. Others have reported they had better luck calling (the phone number is on the website), but I could never get to the point where I could order tickets when I called, even calling at 2 AM Pacific Time. For me, it was certainly worth the effort, though--a very memorable experience. Hope you have a great trip!
Thanks for the responses. We are flying into Milano on the morning of September 5th, home-basing in Varenna for 5 nights, so we were hoping to day tip back into Milano and pay a visit to cenacolo. Looks like those dates are all booked on that site. I did see a few available on the 6th on another site at €32-38. Might have a choice to make. Should have acted earlier, it would appear! Thanks again.
Michael:
Try one of the consolidators like http://www.milan-museum.com/index.htm. We orered early and only received confirmation 3 weeks before our trip. There's a higher price, of course, but worth it! Also, as a last resort, you can check for "last minute Last Supper" tickets at http://www.lastsuppertickets.com/default.aspx. They only allow you to check 4 days prior to yoru desired visit, but you can do that online everyday until you score if all other options fail.
Thank you, Laurel. I will bookmark those and check them out! We also have the 15th in Milano (we fly out on the 16th).
Michael, I used Select Italy to make reservations at about a half dozen museums in different cities, including the Cenacolo in Milano. They not only emailed the vouchers, but kept me informed via email of any delays in getting the vouchers (Galleria Borghese in Rome only confirmed reservations a couple of weeks in advance) after I made the reservations. Select Italy also offers some discount coupons on restaurants, hotels, shops.
OH MY! I did overpay! I wish this site had been easier to find when I was looking!!!!! Mabye Rick Steve's should add websites to his book (although I do know that over the years in between editions that the information can change). Lesson learned for me but now others will have the information.
