Is anyone else trying to get tix/reservation time to see the Last Supper in Milan?
For the past few months the website has not sold tix past August 31st and we
are going in September. We check everyday. Our Air B&B host has also checked
and cannot understand why they haven't gone on sale. I know we could join a
tour, but would rather not. Thank you for any suggestions.
I, too, lost the battle of finding tickets on my own and gave into the tours. It was worth it get a date and time that were convenient and to be able to stop the furious checking I was doing three times a day. I used Tickitaly and if you select your date they will email you when tickets are available.
Our experiences-- you choose on how you want to proceed
1- Had made reservation online- When we showed up they had no record of it. I produced a copy of the email confirmation and they put us in a slot about 20-30 minutes earlier than our 'reserved time' ( 2010)
2- Daughter spent months trying trying to get reservation. No Success. She decided against buying a tour to get a ticket. She got tickets as a walk up. ( 2016)
Certainly not recommending you just 'trust to luck', but there does seem to be some spaces available on a non-reserved basis.
Thank you both for the information! I feel like we need to be proactive on this, especially with the experiences you have had!
You can buy tickets without a tour, probably pay twice the face value, from a broker. I use Select Italy for hard-to-get tickets, my time and peace of mind is worth the extra money, which is still not much considering what you are going to see.
We bought tours from City Wonders, since we weren't sure we could get Last Supper tickets. Sure enough, when I checked the first day tickets were available for our dates, only one ticket was available.
The City Wonders tour was okay, but our guide Katerina was amazing at the Last Supper itself. We had done a lot of reading up before we went, and she still had a lot of information and interpretation that we hadn't encountered. We decided that that one section was worth the price of the tour - if you can afford it, of course. I think it was €70 per person for a 3-hour tour. Not cheap.
Thank you Jane and Zoe! Will look into both of these suggestions!
Just visited Vivaticket and September tickets go on sale on July 24.
I am in same boat. I am on a waiting list for a tour, figuring I will get a blast. I am checking a few times a day. Good to see it is not just me, like a browser problem or something. Website says they should be available now but they aren't.
We went on the website and registered just after midnight morning of the 24th. Random days would show up available but jumped around constantly and if you tried to pick one, either no spaces available or just 1 ticket available. Spent hours trying. 2days.
Then the owner of the apartment we are renting in Milan went and got them for us. We owe him drinks gratefully!
Glad you got your tickets. I had the same problem and never did manage to get any tickets in the wee hours of the 24th. However, there have been quite a few tickets for August showing up today, so I'll keep checking in hopes of picking something up before our trip. If not, there are still plenty of other things to see and do in Milan, and lots of wonderful art to see on our tour. :-)
I've had the same problem! I've been checking several times a day and no ticket amiability for September. My AirBnB host has been checking and calling the number for me with no such luck! We went with a tour to play it safe and can cancel up until 8/28 but we paid 90 euro each, compare to 15!
They really need to figure their website out. For an attraction that is a world wonder, it is a bummer that you cant call without spending tons of money on an international long distance call and their website is garbage and not reliable!
