last-minute Venice reservation

My Venice reservations just vanished. I'll be there (I hope) from Sept 26 to Oct 1. I just sent a dozen e-mails to various recommended hotels. Tripadvisor doesn't find any rooms. I'll check other booking engines tomorrow morning. Does anyone have suggestions of particularly good websites for finding last minute lodging in Venice. Simple is fine (and actually preferable), but being near easy vaporetto connections is important to me. Thanks!

VRBO.com. Venere.com, Booking.com. You can also try to Google "apartments in Venice," or "B&B in Venice." You can also ask hotels to let you know if they have a cancellation. Try to avoid Mestre and hold out for Venice proper. Good luck!

hi sherry look at venere.com and their are some places during that time. some in the cannareggio district, which looked great when we walked around the isle 2 years ago. lots of things to do there. look carefully since some rooms have shared baths, hope you find what you like and want. enjoy

Sherry,
You may want to try www.airbnb.com. I had good luck finding places there. Another suggestion, stay on the Lido. It is pleasant, a short vaporetto ride away. We bought the 3 day pass. Our hotel was Hotel Cristallo. Per Venere website it is " 933.81 Total Price from September 26 to October 1". It was a short (3 block) walk from the vaporetto stop. Nice breakfast. Good luck, Susanna

checking in September 26 and checking out October www.yeego.com reports 156 double rooms available. Surely 1 of those would satisfy your needs. Yeego is a reputable booking company and usually delivers hotel rooms + breakfast at substantial savings.

I called Hotel d'Art directly the morning before arriving in Venice (in mid October), we ended up with a comfortable apartment, well located, for a great price (we weren't looking for luxury).

Depending on your likes, we have stayed twice at Al Campaniel B&B - they may have something - our room with sep but private bathroom across the hall was around 75-80euro. Great breakfast as well, and just a short walk from the San Toma vapor stop - and I mean short - like, 45 seconds, but quiet (no views) - we have booked them again for a 3rd time this year...Marco is really great.

Ciao Sherry, I'm sorry to read about your bad news. The same thing happened to us. Back in January of this year I contacted Pensione Gueratto regarding booking a room for 3 nights starting Sept 20. I got a response that a room is available and they requested my credit card to reserve the room. I completely SPACED OUT and forgot to send my cc # to hold the room. In the meantime I began to book other hotels for the remainder of our trip. Fast forward to August and I decide to confirm all our reservations. It was a total shock when I discovered late that night that I neglected to follow up on Gueratto. I called and emailed them, hoping that by some chance we were in their reservation book. No such luck, they felt very bad for me (3rd time staying there) and gave me a list of other hotels. Everyone on their list was booked. Ok, it was really late and I was really worried as we were flying into Marco Polo. I began emailing hotels in the RS book and continued to strike out. Finally I checked with Hotel Fontana and found an opening and booked it immediately. We dodged (doged?) a bullet, vacation saved, may have found another hotel "home". Anyway, I truly hope that you're able to find a place- keep us up to date. I've learned to confirm my reservation at least a month prior to departure. Best of luck to you. Cordiali Saluti,
Dave
