Last minute (silly) question before traveling.

Should we bring water bottles? Or is it just easier to buy water when we get there?

Just drink the water from the fountains. Watch how a local does it and it will be a photo op for you.

I am normally big on having a reusable water bottle, but I found I didn’t use mine and that it was easier to buy a 0.5 liter one that fit in my purse. I would refill it sometimes but also just bought a new one when I wanted cold water.

If you do, you will have to check it in with your luggage as the maximum amount of liquid per container is 100 ML.

I only bring bottled water that I’m going to drink during my commute to the airport and finish it before security.

Enjoy the local spring water!

I always take my water bottle. Empty until I go through security and then I fill it up so that I can stay hydrated on the plane. After landing I fill it up at the fountains. Everywhere, every country.

Every official water bottle i’ve owned is heavier than a plastic water bottle and i don’t want to carry that extra weight around all day. I do what others do, after Security i buy a plastic bottle of water and keep re-filling it.

I take a Klean Kanteen bottle which probably holds 16oz. and is lightweight. I really try not to contribute to the plastic waste problem by avoiding bottled water and other single use containers.

I have a collapsible water bottle that I take everywhere. It is easy to refill and saves buying water. Kathleen

I like to travel light but stay hydrated. I pack a small-sized disposable water bottle that holds maybe 6-8 oz of fluid. They are small enough to fit into my purse or doesn't take up much space in my backpack. I refill it with cooler water whenever I see a fountain. If I lose it or recycle it at the end of the trip, no problem. On our last trip, one the perfect size came with our meal on the plane. I could have just saved that one!

I always take an empty water bottle….not a fancy one, but one that literally was bought with water in at that I drank empty. My favorite are single serve mineral water bottles as they are a bit more rigid. I fill my bottle after TSA to stay hydrated and use it until I don’t want it and recycle it. I typically buy a bottle of mineral water as I travel so get fresh bottles to carry along the way.

I flew Delta from Idaho to Italy two times this summer. On the main flights, they handed out small water bottles, and there was plenty of water available in the back of the plane going overseas. (And it’s a good excuse to stretch the legs during a long flight.)

Do what makes your comfortable, but while I am in Italy, unless I am hiking, I never carry a water bottle. When we’re out during the morning or afternoon and get thirsty, it’s time to take a short break at an outdoor cafe, recharge our energy, and enjoy the ambiance. …and, I don’t see the locals walking around with water bottles or paper cups of coffee.

I certainly don’t see people in my community walking around with paper cups or non reusable water bottles either. Locals can quench their thirst at home.

I see locals walking around with cups of coffee and reusable water bottles at home all the time. I’m one of them. If I’m leaving the house for more than an hour or so, I usually take some water.

When I can plan ahead, I prefer to take a reusable coffee cup. But the place I used to frequent the most won’t fill them since the pandemic started. (That’s why it’s not the place I frequent the most anymore.)

I use a collapsible HydraPak water bottle when I travel and sometimes at home. It’s not my favorite water bottle to drink from, but it has the right combination of durability and lightweight for me when I travel.
