'Anyone know what time the final admissions are in to St. Peter's? We will be visiting on a Tuesday in early October. We have tickets for Vatican Museum at 1500. 'Curious if it's possible to see the church after our visit to the museum. In addition, an opportunity to visit the roof and dome would be nice -- what time do those areas close?
Basilica closes at 6:30
Dome closes at 5:30
With your Vatican visit at 3 I don’t think you’ll have time for both Basilica and Dome afterwards
Allowing a minimum of 2 hours in museums which isn’t much
We actually did our tour of the Vatican and St. Peter’s at 1500 in 2019. I had hired a private guide and it turned out to be wonderful. Our travel companion had never been and it wasn’t clear if he would ever have another opportunity ( which was why I hired a private guide), so we added it for the afternoon while on our RS Southern Italy tour. It was in May and at the time of day we seemed to be right behind all the crowds. The galleries were pretty empty and reasonable crowds in the Sistine Chapel, enough so there was a moment to sit. We were able to exit through the back and head to St. Peter’s , where again there was hardly anyone. However, we did not try for the roof and dome.
Thanks to you both. Useful information.
I wonder if we showed up at museum at 1430 with 1500 admission time, would we have to wait?
