Large Family (3 kids) Where to stay in Venice

Consider renting an aprtment instead of a hotel. You may need two hotel rooms with your crew, as Venice rooms seem to be a bit smaller than elsewhere in Italy. We have used these folks in the past with good luck. www.veniceapartments.org www.viewsonvenice.com also gets good reviews.

You don't say when you're going? We - self, spouse, two boys, 15 and 11, and girl 7, went around mid-October. I called Hotel d'Art on the way to Venice. They offered us an apartment, owned by the hotel, for a very reasonable price for our three night stay. Breakfast wasn't included. The place wasn't fancy, no view and only typical furniture, but suited us perfectly and was conveniently located near a Vaporettio stop.

You would do well to rent an apartment. You'll have to get your own breakfast, but you'll save $$ overall. Easy to pick up yogurt, fruit, juice, cereal at local markets. The owner has two units with a common entrance that could be combined for a larger group, although the Gran Canal apartment has a queen-sized bed and two sofa beds. This is a very good location! You can walk to Piazza San Marco in 20-25 minutes, or take a vaporetto. Be sure to buy vaporetto passes. Great savings to be had!

La Calcina has an apt and they do a very nice breakfast. We stayed in a suite below the apt and took a quick look inside the apt when it was being cleaned-looked good and i think it had a W&D-would be great for a family.
