We will be staying in Orvieto this June for a week with our two boys (ages 23 and 26). In addition to seeing all the wonderful tourism sites they would like to visit a beach (none closeby that I am aware of) or a nice lake to hang out and chill. Any recommendations? Where do the locals go in that area? I see Lake Bolsena on the map but not much is mentioned in guidebooks. We will have a car.
They do indeed go to Lago di Bolsena. The owner of the B&B where we stayed in Orvieto also owns a cabin he rents out on Bolsena.
Can I assume that the town/village of Bolsena is the place to head and the "public beach/park" area is nearby?
Yes, there is a public beach/park. Bolsena is a neat little town. We stumbled on it when we were driving around, and saw it on the map. Check out this guidebook;

Thank you, I just purchased the book!
Hi Patricia, We have been to Bolsena a couple of times and really enjoyed it. There is a lovely park with a walkway along the lake. Be sure and climb up thru town to the castle, which is interesting. Also, if I remember right, when you return to Orvieto, watch for the viewpoint along the way for a nice photo op of Orvieto.

Google Maps Streetview has surprisingly good coverage of the town of Bolsena. Check it out if you want to take a peek yourself.
Great tips, thank you all so much!!
