Would anyone know the best way to get from Lake Orta to Malpensa Airport in MIlan? We are staying two additional days in Lake Orta after the Village Italy Tour.

I took the train from Orta (there was a train change at one point), rode to Milan Centrale - then took the shuttle bus to the airport. There is also a train to the airport - but I have not taken it. So, others may have info. I was on an RS trip and some of the group took a shuttle into Milan/airport. I think they paid about 95E ?? Sorry it was a few years ago and I don't remember the exact
details.
It is a shame that the RS tour only spends a half of a day on Lake Orta (one night) on the day before you have to get up early and leave as part of its itinerary. Smart move to extend your stay. I am thinking about taking this tour next year, but the itinerary of spending only a half of a day there (one night) has put me off (in addition to the possibility of having to share a bathroom). Rick's website says that the taxi would be 95 Euros for a party of 4. That said, I found the following site that for a private transfer only charges 75 Euros for the trip for 1-3 persons. Their web site is:
http://www.airportcitytransfer.com/taxi-services/transfers-from-Orta-San-Giulio-(Lake-Orta)-to-Milan-Malpensa-Airport-in-bergamo.html Another for the same price is: http://www.airports-shuttle.com/milan-transfers/taxi-from-milan-malpensa-airport-to-orta-san-giulio-(lake-orta).html or: http://www.airport-transfers-direct.com/bergamo-transfers/taxi-from-orta-san-giulio-(lake-orta)-to-milan-malpensa-airport.html There may be other companies out there that are cheaper, and you might check with your hotel as they probably have more ideas. (Sorry for my tirade). Taxis/shuttles seem to be the easiest, but there are also combos of trains and busses which would be cheaper, but you are on vacation. Don
Looks like the RS tour has changed a bit....I went several years ago on the Village Italy trip, we spent 2 nights in Orta and had 2 full days. I stayed an additional night on my own. Loved Orta ..... walked all over the place.
Too bad it is now only 1/2 day?????
