Lake Orta to Milan

We are signed up for the Village Italy tour in September. The tour ends at Lake Orta San Giulio on Sunday. What is a reasonable time estimate to get to Milan Sunday morning? We have booked a recommended hotel in central Milan for two nights, and would like to make plans for Sunday afternoon and/or evening. Has anyone made that trip?

Breakfast (which of course is optional) is the only event on the last day.....so you can book for whatever time works for you. However, on my Village tour the tour guide matched up folks going to airport, train, town and helped them get the transportation they needed. I remember there were enough of us going to the airport we had a van.

As per Trenitalia, the train leaves Orta-Miasino at 08:04, arrives at Milan Centrale at 09:45. One change at Novara. The next train leaves Orta-Miasino at 13:51.

If your hotel is close to the lake you will probably need a taxi to reach the train station. It's not that far but the road up is a bit steepish.

It depends on what type of transportation you use. As others have mentioned, our RS tour guide tried to group people together to get to the Melpensa Airport by taxi or van to lower the cost. From the airport you could take the Melpensa Express train into Milan. It was about 45 minute taxi ride to the airport and the train to Milan about 45 minutes more.

Ended the same tour in early May. Our guide arranged transportation in advance. We were part of a van going to central Milan with drop offs at Milano Centrale, and our hotels. Very easy. If I remember correctly it came in at €30 per person. We had the afternoon for wandering around and dinner at a favorite restaurant.
