We will be extending our Village Italy trip for several days in Milan.
We intend to see Bellagio and would like to know if there is convenient transit direct from Lake Orta to Bellagio or would we be making connections in Milan anyway?

You'll be making connections in Milan. Best way to Bellagio is to take the train from Milano Centrale station to Varenna-Esino and walk downhill to the ferry dock and take the frequent midlake shuttle boat to Bellagio.

We did the exact same thing last year. Our tour guide arranged shared transport for everyone from Lake Orta to both of the Milan airports or to the Milano Centrale train station. We then did as Sam advised and took the train to Varenna-Esino station.
Enjoy the Village Italy trip. It was wonderful!
