Looking for suggestions for day trip(s) out of Lake Orta. I am considering adding an extra day or two onto the end of Village Italy Tour.

If you have a car, drive to Stresa and take the cable car up the mountain.

We spend 3 days at Stresa after the Village Tour in 2009. You can catch a bus from Orta to Stresa, but we shared a taxi-van ride with another 2 couples RS Tour book has a good section on Stresa and Lake Majorie.

Instead of staying an extra day at Lake Orta I would find a place closer to the airport where you will be flying from. Seemed like a long ride from Lake Orta to the Malpensa airport. There is not much to do in Lake Orta which was the end of our village italy tour.

A taxi ride from Stesa to Malpensa is less than 90 minutes.
