What the best to see in one day? Mountains and good lake views are more important for me than the indoor parts of villas and castles. So far we plan to go to Stressa in the morning, then we will do short trip to Borromean islands ( Isola Bela). Will we have time to visit any other beautiful place on a lake before return to Milan? May be we should take another ferry ride? Looking for interesting options, please.

Why a short trip? There are three islands in the Borromean group. You'll be outdoors.
There is a cable car ride up the mountain from Stresa too to see great views.

The reason is, it is our last day of our 17 days trip to Austrian alps ( Lech) and lake Como area ( Varenna).
So I am not 100% sure what to see on lake Maggiore. Should I take long boat ride to see more of the lake or concentrated more on Stressa and isola Bela? I sort of worried that after lake Como and side trip to Lugano it will be more of the same. But, I think, it is still better than fight July heat in Milan to go somewhere else. I will spend previous day before Stresa in Milan anyway and it is enough for me in summer.
