Lake Maggiore - End of October/Early November

We will be in Italy from October 31 - November 6. We will be coming from Switzerland and want to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations in northern Italy. This is my eighth trip to Italy, and I've spent a fair amount of time in the big cities and tourist places.. I'd love to see Lake Maggiore. The ferries to Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori are open in the first week of November and I'd stay in either Stresa or Domodossola. I'm wondering if this will be lovely and not crowded, or I should just go somewhere else further south that time of year. I don't mind chilly weather. I would love ideas and suggestions. We are traveling by train.

Hi Lisa,

I love Stresa and have stayed there three times. I would check your potential sights for the average number of days rain per month since that could affect your activities more than cooler temps. I will share my last solo time in Italy last year where I returned to Stresa and also went to several less touristy locations to give you additional ideas. I stayed in 11 cities during that trip.
