Looking to visit Lake Maggiore and would like to make a day trip to Lugano. Any suggestions?

Depending on where you start on Lake Maggiore, it could be easy or a slog.

I was staying at Cannobio on one trip and paid for a private car to Lugano. I believe you can go by boat but haven't done it and am not sure of the frequency/timetable of the boats.

There is no way one can go from anyplace on Lake Maggiore to Lugano by boat.
As mentioned above, we need to know where on Lake Maggiore you are starting from. That determines everything.
