What is the best way to get to Lake Como if one is taking a ferry from Lake Lugano, Switzerland? Thank you!
Lake Lugano and Lake Como do not connect, but you can take a train or bus to get between the two: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html. Where are you going on Lake Como?
Hi, thanks for the reply. I know they don’t connect, am figuring out the best means on land (shortest distance) to get to Lake Como. Planning to visit Como and Bellagio.
The train from Lugano to Milan stops at the town of Como and you can take a boat up the lake to Varenna or Bellagio from there. But it is slow. The other option is to stay on the train til Milan and take a train to Varenna from there.
We looked into doing this a few years ago. As I recall there is a bus you can take from Menaggio to Lugano.
The fastest way is the bus from Lugano to Menaggio. Then from Menaggio you can take a ferry to whichever place you want, including Bellagio. Bus info below (click on Line C12, under ExtraUrban lines). It’s a one hour journey.
