Lake Garda: Limone only or both Limone and Riva del Garda

We are spending three nights in Malcesine in late June. On one of our full days there we wanted to take a ferry and visit Limone. I can't decide whether to try to visit Riva del Garda as well. Another option I thought of was to take the ferry to Riva del Garda but to mostly to ride the ferry as opposed to spend much time in the town. I was thinking it might be a scenic ride.

I was wondering what people who have been to the north side of Lake Garda thought.

We stayed in Limone and visited Malcesine and Riva on separate days. If I were to do it again, I would stay in Riva. Limone was nice. It's small. I liked that there was more going on in Riva. My husband says he would visit Riva because of the longer ferry ride from Malcesine (more of the lake to see).

You can see the timetables here. https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/en/tickets-and-timetables-lake-garda/
If it suited you, you could visit both in a day.

Or, you could drive up to Riva, continue round to Limone, keep driving southwards on the west side till you come to Torri del Benaco, and catch the car ferry across to Torri del Benaco (20km south of Malcesine).

If you look at a map, it's about 40 k from Malcesine to Maderno.

Lin-thanks for the link! I can see that from Malcesine to Limone is only 10 minutes by ferry! It never occurred to me that they would be so close. Part of my reason to visit Limone is to visit the town but the other part was to see the lake from a boat.

I think we will take your husband’s advice Jessica and take the ferry to Riva del Garda for the ride if nothing else.
