Looking at 5 nights in Lake Garda coming into Desenzano Del Garda-Sirmione Railway Station from Naples.
First time to this area. Looking for a great place for us to stay. We are thinking of renting a car for several days. Looking for a great hotel for a base for 4 nights before heading to Como.

If you want good answers, you have to provide good detailed info. The most important will be if you have a car or not. Then stuff like what do you like to do, will you have kids, time of year, etc. You get the idea.
I stayed in Torri del Benaco and it was very nice. I could not imagine doing this area without a car, although I'm sure it is possible, though inconvenient. I think probably Como is better without wheels.

welcome aboard. helps to have more info. dates, how many people as in "us" (if a child how old) will you have a car, like acechrist asks.
their is also another train station, pescheira del garda. do you have reservations on the naples to lake garda (lago de garda) train already? i loved lake garda, went to the annual wine festival in bardolino which happens beginning of october. lots of things to see and do in the different villages around the lake with gorgeous lake and mountain views
