Lake Garda from Verona?

By train, it is 14 minutes from Verona station to Peschiera del Garda on the lake. From there, you could go by boat to either Sirmione ( close, Roman ruins, walled city, lots of tourists) or up the lake to Malcescine (gorgeous setting at the base of Monte Baldo, narrow lake with rugged shore, old castle, lots of German windsurfers on the lake). Is it worth it? Depends on the time of year and your interests. We spent 3 nights at Malcescine and loved it there.
