Hello. I am beginning to research a possible trip to Italy for 10 days. I have reduced mobility..I cannot walk for miles on end like I used to and am also a peritoneal dialysis patient which means returning to the hotel every night for treatment with a portable dialysis machine I will bring from home. All this comes down to is that we will no longer be able to move from city to city and walk great distances daily. I would like recommendations for a city or town along Lake Garda that would enable us to enjoy frequent ferry rides to neighboring towns while offering decent restaurant choices and hotels. Any suggestions for locations and/or hotels would be welcomed appreciated. It is unlikely that we will rent a car but it remains a possibility, especially for a few days as opposed to all ten days.
My original thoughts and searches centered around ten days in Lecce with the same requirements. Any comments on which itinerary posters suggest as preferable?

I'm a great Lake Garda fan. For many years I spent two weeks in September in an apartment near to Gardone Riviera.
I don't know how you will be travelling to Lake Garda, but there is a train service to Peschiera and Desenzano in the south.
Both those towns are larger, but the lakeside give a small town feel.
Virtually any of the lake towns is ideal for a stay, using lake steamers to get around. Those in the south have less hills than those further north. You would have to use the bus, or car, to get there.

Thanks Lin C. Desenzano does offer the important rail service, particularly from MXP. We will likely fly into Milan to begin this trip. Then do I suppose you agree that 10 days wouldn’t be too long? We will be restricted to staying in one place and not moving around other than day trips. That makes me a bit nervous …we’ve never traveled that way before but I see no alternative.A hotel convenient to the ferry dock is also important …my suggestions?

10 days would not be too long for me, but then I really enjoy using the lake steamers to visit destinations round the lake., plus sitting a pavement cafes watchong the world.
If you look at Booking.com, using the map option, there are loads of hotels 200-300m from the ferry dock, and also the town centre.
A lot of them are near the lake road, with a bus route as well.
I haven't stayed in Desenzano, only visited for the day, and I don't know your budget or taste in hotels, but there a quite a few I'd be more than happy to stay in.
You may be able to organise excursions, too, to places such as the Sigurta Gardens

Thanks Lin C for the additional information. I will look into a visit to the garden! I’m a big garden fan.
I’m considering the Hotel VIttorio but must wait a few months until they post their 2027 rates and availability.
