Have you picked which town you want to stay in on the lake? A lot of the hotels will tell you on their websites what your options are from Verona.

When we went to Lake Garda last fall we took the bus from the Verona train station to Sirmione. Very easy. We stayed at a B&B called La Reve right on the main square and ate at many places not on the main square. The B&B was very nice: two young sisters who speak excellent English, and the location was perfect. Sirmione has a castle, a wonderful Roman villa, and good walks in general. We spent one day on a ferry going all over the lake, which was lovely. I do not recommend taking the gondola ride to the top of the mountain in Malcesine, as it was an expensive disappointment; we wished we had spent the time wandering around the attractive little town instead. Have a great time!

we drove from venice to lake garda in october 2010. attended the wine festival (festa dell uva) at bardolino, last week sept first week october. stayed at hotel nettuno. had a fabulous and fun time at festival (eat drink and be merry!) drove a little ways up the lake from bardolino which was pretty. wish we had more time to explore. it is a pretty lake. have fun
