Help! I am traveling to Lucca for a business trip and will extend a week out in early May with my husband. Plan was to drive to Lake Garda and on to the Dolomites (eventually flying out of Zurich…we like to drive and see new places), but after reading up, it may not be the best time to go to the Dolomites. Any suggestions of places to visit for a week? We’ve done Tuscany, Venice, Lake Bled and Croatia and would rather go somewhere new. Can fly home (Seattle) from any airport.

At least this past year, the first lifts in Val Gardena were open on May 11.
