Lake Garda

We are planning a trip for June/July 2023. Have been thinking of picking one town along Lake Garda to "just be" for a week or so and being able to take some day trips. My husband and I are very active(hiking and biking) but really want to experience Italian life on this visit. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks.

I would recommend Malcescine, at mid-lake. Pretty little town with a ruined castle, hiking on Monte Baldo, good boat connections to other towns, and more.

Just be aware that Lago di Garda, and especially the northern end, is very popular with German tourists for the active sports like windsurfing, paragliding, etc., so you won’t be alone with the Italians.
