Any advice on where to rent boats at Lake Garda?
Is it possible to rent a boat and to drive from town to town? Is there a place to dock the boat? Any specific towns or itinerary you recommend? I will be going with my teens. Would my 17 year old son be allowed to drive the boat?
Thank you!
Why not just use the ferry system?
We rented a boat for two hours in Sirmone. It was great fun. They gave us a couple choices of routes.
My son drove the boat but he was 19 so have no idea about a 17 year old,
There were seven of us and the rental was cheaper than taking a ferry.
I could find very little information on line and no way to reserve. I ended up just calling,
Thank you! Were you able to dock at different towns?
You can also rent in toscolano Maderno . We were not able to dock. I have only docked with local friends who own their boat and keep them on the lake year round. If you want to visit multiple towns around the lake the best way is the fast ferry. A private boat rental is nice though if you want to see views from the water and be independent. I’m not sure the age allowed to drive.
Things might have changed now, but the few places which might have rented a boat big enough to drive from town to town would require international skippers licences.
It would also be very expensive.
Public moorings used to be quite rare.
As well as Sirmione, Limone and Riva in the north have day boat (ir small engine) hire.
The weather can change extremely quickly and caution is needed.
