Lake Garda and Lake Como planning

Planning 1 night Milan, 3 nights in Lake Como area and 3 nights in Lake Garda area. Is that too many in that region? Should I reduce days in lake areas and add 1-2 nights in Piedmont area? Suggestions welcomed!

I presume your night in Milan is the one before flying back home?
If you land in the morning or early afternoon you can go to lake Como on the day of arrival.
I wouldn't change anything. 3 nights at each lake is good. That's only two full days each. If you have an extra night give it to lake Garda. It's bigger and with more to see. If you wanted to see Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta in Piedmont you need 3 or 4 nights more.

Each of the lakes offers its unique experience,. From Lago di Garda (depending on where you stay), in addition to the other towns along the lake, you could take a daytrip to Verona if you haven't been there.

Lin,

With both lakes you'll need to give some thought on which town to stay in, as there are many choices.

On Lago di Como, the usual favourite with many here is the small town of Varenna, which is about an hour from Milan.

On Lago di Garda, there are also many choices between the north and south end. For ease of getting around that area, it would be prudent to stay in a town with a rail station, so Peschiera or Desenzano are the ones to look at. In the towns at the north end (Limone, Malcesine) only Bus transport is available unless you have a rental car. These towns also have boat transport for part of the year. I was in that area in late September and stayed in Peschiera. I quite liked the town and would stay there again.
