Lake Garda accommodation for a runner in the Lake Garda 42 this coming April

Hi All!

We are heading to lake Garda for a few days in April for the LG42 race. Based off the start line being in Alco and the finish in Malcesine, where should we stay :-). We are only in Lake Garda for 3-4 days. Please help!

Cheers,

Matt

hey hey matthew
do you mean arco?
Italythisway.com/arco italy
lots of info there about the area and places of interests, scroll down to places to stay. will you have a car?
booking.com
put in city (arco), dates, and what is budget, how many people. see what suits your fancy then book it.
lago-di-garda.org/arco
look up hotels available. will you be spending all time there or plan to spend time in malcesine?
it’s the northern end of lake. where will you go after lake garda.
we stayed in bardolino for their annual wine festival in late September early october. gorgeous lake with many activities, ferries to other cities/villages, transportation can be buses (slow going), maybe taxi’s $$$ or rent a car to more trains/buses bottom of lake to pescheira del garda.
do some research about what your plans are, things to see and do.
hope this gives you more info. you may get more from others here on the forum. good luck & have fun

If you do the full 42km of the Marathon, the start is actually in Limone, on the western shore of the north lake. From there the race heads north to Riva and Arco (the halfway point) where the half marathon starts (21 km) for those who want to do only half of the race. Then the itinerary heads back south through the eastern shore to Malcesine, which is the finish line for both the full and the half marathon. If your starting point is Arco, then you must have chosen to do only the half marathon.
I presume those days all hotels will be packed. Riva is the largest town on the north lake and very close to the Arco starting point. Actually Limone is not far either, but finding accommodations in Limone is difficult even in normal circumstances (it’s one of the quaintest small villages on the lake therefore very crowded). So if you want to be near the start line I’d start the search in Riva first, the largest and the transportation hub of the north lake. Malcesine, at the finish line, is also nice, but that might be also hard to find accommodations. Arco (the half race start point) is not on the lake, therefore I wouldn’t stay there if you want pretty lake views.

Thank you for the replies!

We booked a spot in Nago-Torbole. Perfect location for the race and walking to some beautiful areas around the lake.

The area along via del Viminale between Piazzale dei Cinquecento and the Viminale Palace (basically near the Opera House is a decent area in Rome. Last time I was there (also needed to be near the station) I stayed at the San Remo hotel. My preference though is to stay at Trastevere.
