Lake Como - in Varenna, Hotel du Lac for views of the lake. In Bellagio, probably Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni for views. In Menaggio, Hotel Bellevista lives up to its name.
Lake Lugano - only stayed once, at Hotel Victoria au Lac. Great views. Rooms can be a bit small.

Great views over Lake Como, short walk to restaurants and the boat dock, excellent hospitality and service.
