Lake Como vs. Lake Garda

My husband and I are planning our first trip to Italy in 9/10 for our 25th anniversary. One of the places I would like to go to is Lake Como. My brother is trying to convince me that Lake Garda would be better. Here is our rough itinerary, which is not set in stone (except arriving in Rome) -

Arrive Rome - spend 3 nights

Tuscany - will possibly split the time (a week ?) into 2 locations

CT - 3 nights

Lake Como - 3 nights

Venice - 2 nights

Verona - 3 nights

We will be taking the train from Verona to Munich.

If we switch from Como to Garda it can be added to our Verona time, maybe saving a couple of days to add to one of our other locations.

So my question is this, is Lake Garda as nice as Lake Como, or do you think changing lakes will be cheating us out of a great Lake Como experience?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

Andrea - Tuscany and Lake Garda with Verona would be my choice - Being Italian I am prejudiced but those two spots are special. I've taken many small groups throughout the region and , If you're looking for a base of operations in Tuscany I would suggest - http://www.casolarelibbiano.it/
Berta and her husband Andrea are great hosts with a Beautiful B&B just outside of San Gimignano and easy driving to Siena, Volterra and, of course San Gimignano (three miles) Please check out their accomodations.
Lake Garda and the surrounding area is Spectacular and I'll go out on a limb and say - You will Love it!!!

Ciao, Greg

I've not been to either lake, yet, but my neighbor here in Dallas lives full-time in Modena and she says that Lake Garda is stunning. I get the feeling that it's maybe a little less touristy and commercial too.
