Well, you are supposed to read that text. Did you?

@Dario, you're hilarious. After reading your terse posts these last several months, my spouse and I have nicknamed you Mr. Blunt. Seriously, thank you for your insights and useful info. I've learned much from you.

Which town are you trying to get to?
The 3 you list are all different locations

Bullet point 3 has your answer

Hi ChristineH,

I am in Milan now, planning to get to all three villages from Milano Centrale to either one of them and then take a ferry ride to all the villages before retuening to Milano centrale.

Any idea which mode of travel would be the best for a couple with 2.5year old kid?

Is taking the train from Milano CLE to Lierna and change connection to ferry and get to Bellagio, Varenna or Menaggio possible?

Thank you in advance.

As for the website given, i wish i can share the screenshot. Point bullet 3 give me no information so im not sure which point youre referring to. Im guessing the web format youre seeing is different from what reflected on my mobile phone, hence i have no way other than to be spoonfed with info. I apologize if these frustrated anyone, i would rather get the info myself but it is not clear at all.

OP, below is what I see, copied and pasted from the website and with the references I think people are trying to point out to you bolded. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me:

The Milan-Lecco-Sondrio-Tirano railway line remains closed between Lierna and Bellano due to the landslide that occurred on Friday, May 19.

From Monday, May 22, until further notice, the following measures are in place and are valid every day, including Saturdays and holidays :

From Milan Central towards Sondrio/Tirano

Trains run regularly between Milan Central and Lierna, stopping at all stations between Lecco and Lierna.

From Milan, customers travelling to Valtellina MUST get off at Lecco, where replacement bus services are available: Lecco-Colico for those who need to travel to Valtellina and Lecco-Bellano-Varenna for those who need to reach Lake Como;

From Tirano/Sondrio towards Milan Central
Trains run between Sondrio/Tirano and Bellano, stopping at all stations between Sondrio and Bellano.

Customers travelling to Lecco or Milan MUST get off at Colico and use buses to Lecco, where they will find all the rail connections to Milan and Bergamo, or to Lierna. In Lecco, customers travelling to Milan can also use the S8 line to Porta Garibaldi with trains departing every half hour at .06 and .36 minutes past the hour.

In collaboration with Navigazione Laghi, boat trips have been established that connect Lierna, Varenna and Bellano.
The Bellano-Varenna route takes 17 minutes; the Varenna-Lierna route takes 23 minutes. The entire journey takes 40 minutes. The Bellano and Lierna railway stations are about ten minutes' walk from the docks.

Please note that only the trains/buses listed in this provisional timetable are running, which suspends, until further notice, what is reported in the "timetable" and "timetable search" sections of the website and App.

Some useful information for travelling during this emergency period:

Bus travel times depend on traffic conditions;
Trains from Colico to Valtellina will depart at the scheduled time to ensure the regularity of the single-track service;
Long waits may occur at Colico towards Milan and Lecco towards Valtellina;
The train numbers may vary from those reported in the attachments;
There may be some slight timetable changes due to the infrastructure manager's needs.
Customers are invited, before travelling, to consider all these possible variables.

If nothing posted here is helping you why not go to the station in Milan and ask there?

I am seeing exactly what is posted above on my iPhone, so it’s not a device issue in your part

Thank you ChristineH,

I think its comprehension problem for me for not knowing to navigate properly, however this means the website is not user friendly enough to address idiots like me. Websites should be IDIOT PROOF.

I thank you for pasting, i got the point now, however the other thread says they get off at Lierne instead of Lecca.

Thank you for the patience.

We took the train to Lierna without a ticket to Varenna. The 4:05 ferry (last Friday, a holiday), took everyone first who had a ticket already to Varenna. There were spots left for the 10 people or so who did not have tickets already to Varenna. We paid cash (10 Euro for 2) on the boat for the ferry.
Hope that helps, movexz

We are in Varenna tonight. We left Milano Centrale this morning to Como Lago, one change. Got to the ferry ticket booth about11:00. 20 minutes to buy tickets, 12:15 was sold-out. Got tickets for the 2:20. Had lunch, all good. But it is confusing. For where we are staying it was better than the train station.

Again I think I posted before I understood the question. If you just want to see the "villages" go to Como Lago, it's the hub. All are busy.

We are in Varenna and walked to the train station. It might open next week. Ferry to and from Como is the best option they said, busses not on a set schedule.
