We are planning a trip to Lake Como July 2020. We will have some friends coming in from Milan. Is there train service from Milan to Lake Como. We are staying in Bellagio.

You would take a train from Milan Centrale to Varenna
In Varenna you take a ferry to Bellagio.
That is the quickest way.

it's a big lake, depends where on the lake.
- There are two different rail lines from Milan to different stations in Como town, at the bottom left corner (SW) of the lake. One of the lines continues to Switzerland.
- There is a totally different rail line from Milan that goes up the east side of the lake, calling at Varenna and other places.
- If you are staying in the area between the two arms of the lake (Bellagio etc.), or anywhere on the west side of the lake, it is buses or ferries only.

Jazz is absolutely right. The fastest way to get to Bellagio is to take a local train from Milano Centrale train station to Varennna-Esino stop in Varenna. It takes about an hour. Since this is a local train, be sure to validate your ticket before you board. Walk to the dock from the train station and buy a ferry ticket to Bellagio. The ride is about 15 minutes, and the ferries run quite frequently.

You can also hire a private driver/taxi service to take you directly to Bellagio. we used Bellagio taxi service.
