I would like to rent a villa/house in Lake Como during June/Julyor August 2009. Duration a month, for approximately 8 people. Possibly do an exchange of residences. We have a 3 bedroom/3 bath condo on Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway

You can try this website which rents apartments, homes, and villas along Lake Como. However, I don't think they have rentals in Como itself.

As an alternative, you may wish to consider two apartments with four people each. Marilena has some apartments in Varenna:

It may be difficult to find one accomodation for eight people.
