Hello my favorite travel hive. My wife and I are traveling to Milan along with Venice, and Piedmont this November. Just curious if anyone has visited the lake Como or maybe Lugano in November. Is the place a boarded up ghost town? We’re considering if it’s worth a day trip at that time of year.
Average November temperatures are 53/45 with 8 days having precipitation. On a sunny day, you likely will have few crowds and certainly there will be some restaurants open especially in Lecco, Como and Bellagio.
Note also that the days will become much shorter, daylight ending around 4:30-5:00pm. Don't think you'll find much nightlife.
Have a great trip!
My mom and I visited Lake Como some years ago in early/mid October. I recall the hotel owner telling us that they close down for the winter in early November and don’t reopen till late March/early April.
Enjoy your trip!
Our host at Lake Como also said that a lot of things close at the end of October, but not everything. I had a similar winter experience at Lake Garda, and I'm still raving about it today. If you don't expect everything to be open, you can really enjoy this paradise. There's definitely accommodation and something to eat. Especially when it comes to food, you get what the locals eat and not what's cooked for tourists. I definitely recommend doing it, even if it takes more research.
